Experience
I currently tutor my son Brian who has autism. He started out in a Special Education class at the age of 5 and with my persistence; he is now mainstreamed and fully included.
I worked as a paraeducator through Ventura Office of Education to work at Sequoia Middle School in 2007. In addition to teaching modified academics, I helped teach life skills that were necessary for independent living. The children learned how to shop, pay for food at a restaurant, and access the library.
To gain more perspective of the wide range of children with Autism, I left VCOE and started working at Mountain Meadows Elementary School in 2008 through Moorpark School District. I worked with children of various disabilities and taught a variety of academic activities.
In the beginning school year of 2009, I left Moorpark to work for Neighborhood for Learning operated under Conejo Unified School District. I currently work with preschool children of different diversities and cultures. I assist in the operation of group activities and individual choice.
